DIGITAL ARTIST
When did you realize you were an artist?
Well, I simply remember doodling constantly with color when I was a little kid and it just never stopped. My imagination was always running wild with various monsters, worlds and anything exuberant that popped into my head. Jim Henson and his famous Muppets were and remain a big influence. As the years progressed, I started experimenting and it eventually manifested to a myriad of mediums across the board. Common daydreams and doodles became sculptures, puppets, collages, sketches, paintings, stories and art that I could create with my hands
Tell us about your artistic style?
My artistic style is set mainly on abstract color of all forms. Every now and then I dabble in portraiture which utilizes that same vein of stylizing. I’m drawn to the wild and free elements of art and color seems to lead the charge in that regard. Even the animated characters that I develop for Myles Creative, LLC. hold true to that theme.
It is the only way to settle the mind, simple and sweet. The daily journey seems to prompt endless contemplation and dreaming. So, how do I manage most of those thoughts? Well, the easy answer is that I translate them to a piece of art or incorporate them into a greater creative flow for another medium. Keeping it going from there is often the hard part as each piece never truly feels 100% complete, even when it is done. Music seems to be my biggest motivator as the more I listen the more my ideas explode and need to be made into a visual reality.
Tell us about a workflow quirk you have picked up over your artistic career?
My favorite way to get that burst of artistic flair is to go out wandering and exploring. I tend to discover the best and most interesting pieces for my art while listening to music and frolicking on the streets. People watching is perhaps the best pastime to experience anywhere for fresh ideas. It helps to get out of the house or studio to just bask in the wide world waiting to be taken in.
What was it that convinced you to join ARTDEX?
As an artist, no matter what medium, you are on the search for other communities to network and connect. ARTDEX was that hot new spot where an artist could easily be with other artists! I wanted to explore what other people were up to globally and see how their magic came alive. It is the ideal place to become inspired or informed on a personal level.
